The recent, unconstitutional decision, made by the Somali Prime Minister Mr. Abdiwali to appoint Mr. Mohamed Hassan for Commissioner was not well thought of and mainly based on emotional reaction and self interest.
The Prime Minister, didn't do, the due diligence required to properly screen the background of the candidates for the commissioner's role. Not only that he did not screen, he selected an unqualified war criminal to lead such a significant security institution. In addition, the timing of his decision was a give away to Al-Shabaab's objectives. He announced the change one day after Al-Shabaab's attack on the Villa. This shows the Prime Minister doesn't have the leadership capacity and the political intellect required to lead Somalia forward.
We urge, the Somali president and the Somali citizens to not accept such individual criminals to represent such prestige institution in Somalia.
